Bodybuilder Jeff Everson Has Died

Jeff Everson, owner of Planet Muscle magazine and one-time editor-in-chief of Muscle & Fitness has died. He was 68. A bodybuilding and powerlifting competitor, at his peak Everson won the Masters Nationals, NCP bodybuilding competition and placed 6 th in the Master Division for Mr. Universe. Everson was married to six-time, Ms. Olympia champion Cory Everson , who is considered one of the best female bodybuilders of all time. Although the couple was divorced, they remained very supportive of one another throughout the years, up until his sudden death on Feb. 25. His sudden passing was a result of natural causes, according to reports . In an interview with TMZ , Everson's family said that he was complaining of leg and foot pain prior to his death, but he suspected it was from powerlifting and nothing serious, according to the report. “I’m just very sorry to see that he’s gone,” said bodybuilder Ric Drasin, who posted a tribute video to his late friend.  Here's a bl

Mandatory Pose Wednesday - Rear Lat Spread

Welcome back to MPW! NEXT WEEK'S POSE: Most Muscular Welcome back to another installment! We're hitting Rear Lat Spread today. 1) First, as always, we will begin with the feet. Diagram here. The feet can be the other way too, depending whether you are stronger with your left or right side, but the general positioning remains the same. Make sure your rear foot is pointed outwards and that your knee follows in the same direction. This will allow your quad sweep to be visible from the back, and your whole lower body will appear much bigger. 2) Ball both your hands into a fist but leave the thumbs sticking out, resembling a “thumbs up” position. Reach towards the bottom rear of your rib cage with your thumbs to lock your hands in place. Next rotate your hands so that the back of the hand is facing up, and the side fist is facing front. The trick with this is to make sure your elbows do not drift too far to the front. They still need to be pointed out to the sides to create th

Should I cut or bulk after being sick/injury (regaining lost muscle)

Hi everyone, I have a question about regaining lost muscle. I have had a broken hand and have been sick so, I haven't trained in a total of 5 weeks. I lost about 4kg of weight (probably muscle). Before those 5 weeks it was my plan to cut for the summer until I got an injury. If I cut I can't regain the amount of muscle lost, and will lose even more, right? Man this is demotivating. So what is the best thing to do now? I actually want to get back the muscle I lost but I'm also too high in bodyfat (+- 20%). I'm in a huge dillema... I'm seeing all these Calisthenics guys with massive bodies promoting their programs. Are these bodies actually achievable with Calisthenics?

Beginner help!

Hi everyone i was hoping i could come here and possibly get some help. I am brand new into lifting and I just recently started February 1st. Before that i was just running about 45 minutes a day for about 2 months to work on my cardio. I've lifted weights with some friends before but i am pretty much a novice at this point. What are some tips and tricks you guys can give me? What do you guys think of free weights vs machines? My main goal is to lose my beer belly and get into the best shape in my life since high school. Currently 26 years old, 5'6 205 pounds. ​ Here is my current schedule, I start everyday with about 10 min of cardio. Day 1 - Chest, tris, and shoulders Day 2- Biceps, back Day 3 - Legs and cardio Day 4 -Rest Day 5- Start routine over again. ​ I've also gotten some back pain as well, is that normal? Eddie Hall leg press

So...here’s a video of Eddie Hall leg pressing. He’s literally only moving like 6 inches. Even Ronnie Coleman’s 2300 pound leg press had greater ROM. This is the definition of quarter reps right here. I thought maybe he was doing partial reps as a special way to overload, but in the comments he adamantly defends it, saying “any lower and you’ll fuck up your back”. Not Gaining weight on 3000 - 4000 calorie per day

I'm hoping to get some advice to help me gain weight. 25 year old male, currently 5'10" 150 lbs. I eat between 3000 and 4000 calories per day, consisting of eggs, chicken, fish, burgers, brown rice, veggies. I drink an 800 calorie smoothie daily at work (banana, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, spinach kale, Greek yogurt, protein powder, almond milk. At night I drink a 1100 calorie gainer protein shake made by Bodytech. I max out on pizza once per week. I just started adding 5 grams of creatine per day to my preworkout. Lifting 5 - 6 x per week including Deadlifts, squats, bench press, rows, pullups, lat pull downs, etc. Any tips on things I can do differently? I have a lot of food sensitivities so some easy calorie foods such as pb&j are not an option for me. Appreciate your help, Thanks! 2 Years Off - Where to Begin Again...

I haven't stepped foot in a gym since December 2016. I was a lean 170lbs and could bench 2X my bodyweight, Squat 3X and Deadlift 3.5X - life was good. I got really sick, I could barely eat food and, to cut a long story short, went down to 130lbs over the course of 2017. In 2018 I got back to health and am now at my normal, non-lifting, weight of 150lbs. Fast forward to today, I want to go back to the way I was but am unsure where to start. Should I begin as a newbie and take a couple months of whole body excercises? Or should I jump back into a split just at low weights? TL;DR: Lost all gains due to illness, best way to get back on track I haven't stepped foot in a gym since December 2016. What to do about bad chest genetics?

I was wondering if there are any solutions to bad chest genetics? I have been working out frequently (5-6 days a week) for 2 years and my chest has barely changed and everything has grown a decent amount. I know I have bad chest genetics by looking at my dad and he's always said the family has bad chest genetics. Is there any recommendations for bad chest genetics to get over it or am I just going to be stuck with a small chest? I hit chest more often and harder than anything else and I see far less results from Chest than any other muscle. Also I should add my weight has gone up on bench and other chest exercises but the size remains barely changed. Any recommendations for getting over this hump is greatly appreciated.
