Are Supplement Companies Missing the Boat on Coffee Craze?

Joe Weider Movie "Bigger" Closing In On Release Announcement

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J When we first learned the story of Joe Weider was headed to the big screen, we knew it had all the makings of a blockbuster.  With a star studded cast and a highly respected director in place, BIGGER wrapped up shooting last November and quickly entered its post-production stage.  The movie has received a healthy amount of coverage from Hollywood trade publications and various mainstream outlets like US Weekly and Entertainment Tonight , indicating that the movie is generating interest extending well beyond the world of muscle and fitness. Co-Executive Producer Dan Solomon tells us the film is now complete. “Director George Gallo created something beautiful, an emotionally charged, multi-layered, period piece spanning all the decades of Joe’s life. I can’t give away details, but we are all incredibly proud of how it came together.  This is the largest budgeted bodybuilding themed production ever made. The Upgraded 'Dirty Diane' CrossFit WOD for Bodybuilders

Image
Edgar Artiga CrossFitters have a simple, elegant, and highly taxing WOD in “Diane”: three rounds of 21, 15, and 9 reps of deadlifts (225 pounds) and handstand pushups (HSPUs). But for the gym guy who wants to gain lean mass , Diane is good, but she lacks some muscle. So we challenged Mike Dewar, C.S.C.S., founder of the Barbell CEO ( thebarbellceo.com ), to give the WOD a hypertrophy-focused makeover. His version and the explanations for his changes are below. [RELATED1] The Move: WIDE-GRIP PULLUP “These make the WOD a complete total-body workout with a high emphasis on back and lat strength,” Dewar says. “The deadlifts will pre-exhaust the back, and the wide-grip pullups will build slabs of muscle onto the frame. Most people will need to break up the reps. This turns the workout into a great rest-pause-style session.” The Move: DEADLIFT “Using 60% of your max ensures the weight is sufficient to cause a neurological stimulus to increase hormone output. Mandatory Pose Wednesday - Rear Double Bicep

Welcome back to MPW! NEXT WEEK'S POSE: Rear Lat Spread Welcome back to another installment of Mandatory Pose Wednesday! Were hitting RDB today. 1) First, as always, we will begin with the feet. DIAGRAM HERE. The feet can be the other way too, depending on whether you are stronger with your left or right side, but the general positioning remains the same. Make sure your rear foot is pointed outwards and that your knee follows in the same direction. This will allow your quad sweep to be visible from the back, and your whole lower body will appear much bigger. Don't be afraid to sink in to the stance. 2) Simply strike a biceps pose, and make sure to rotate your hands to the back as far as they can go. Lean back slightly – only slightly, while sticking out and flexing your glutes. 3)Keep your shoulder blades apart from one another while rotating your elbows back to create the best width illusion because it's hard to hide a big waist in this pose. Experiment and see what

Letting Go Of What I Can't Control

Living With Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 7 since 2009 and think since than despite my ups and downs with my Ataxia I believe I have done the best I can. Recently I have found it difficult to manage my issues emotionally. One thing will occur in my life which leads me to start questioning myself to a point I want to give up the fight. I was so down about my issues that I almost went as far as hurting myself. I went to a job interview and for the first time in awhile I started to hate being in this situation. Every day I have to remind myself that God will never give me more than I can handle and to focus on the things I can control but how long before those words fall on deaf ears. Is it that I am using my Ataxia for excuses to why there is no balance in my life or do I continue on a path of progress and personal growth? These are the cards I have been dealt so I have to put my best foot forward and keep pushing forward. Living With Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 7 since 2009 and think s

MLB Superstar Gets 80 Game Suspension After Testing Positive For PEDs

Major League Baseball (MLB) as may be the strictest performance-enhancing drug policy of all the major sports leagues in the United States, policies that were enacted after José Canseco blew the whistle on rampant steroid use and abuse in professional baseball throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and the early 2000’s. The black eye that performance-enhancing drugs gave the sport of baseball is something that this sport hasn’t been able to shake, which is why they come down with such a significant hammer on any player – ANY player – that skirts the rules when it comes to PEDs. Robinson Cano found this out firsthand. A superstar second baseman for the Seattle Mariners (formally of the New York Yankees), Cano is one of the game’s best players and as dependable a power hitter and homerun machine as you are going to find in the game today. Unfortunately, some of that power might very well have been “juiced” artificially, as the superstar slugger has been suspended for 80 games after testing posit

The Full-Body Workout to Torch Fat

Image
Per Bernal Lifting weights is not a one-dimensional activity. It shouldn’t be merely two-dimensional, either. When done properly (and assuming your goals aren’t limited to building massive size and strength ), a resistance-training session should get you stronger , promote muscle building, improve your cardio , and burn loads of calories.  If that last one isn’t happening, it’s time to tweak your routine . The following workout is full-body training. It’s rest-period sparse. It incorporates cardio acceleration as well as heavy sets. It’s a calorie-incinerating, fat-torching machine of a workout. Dairy bulk diet

Hey guys, this is me: Noob gainz (82kg, 177cm, sorry I'm European) I work at a dairy company (I'm IT) and basically I can eat whatever the hell I like, except my choices go from dairy to dairy, so I only get to eat yogurts, milk, liquid yogurts and the like. But I get to eat these for free, so I'm using this opportunity to more easily bulk. Besides, I currently count my pennies, really tight on funds, so I need to take every opportunity I can to eat what I can. I only get to be so picky about food, but I do try to keep it moderately lean when I can. What do you guys think of dairy for a bulk? Especially when you eat a LOT of dairy? Any tips? Any experience with dairy? Any advice? I'm currently putting oatmeal onto some yogurts to give them a "boost". There's also this crazy new yogurt called Lindahls Kvarg with a crazy amount of protein made for athletes (according to them), so I chug one down whenever It's available here. But it rarely is (It

Why do we have Mr. Olympia dynasties? Why don't more people win the Mr. Olympia?

This is something that always confused me. Why is it that once you win Mr. Olympia, you are guaranteed to win it for at least 4 years (bar the few exceptions exist like Dexter)? To me, this drastically reduces the excitement in the Mr Olympia competition, because once one is crowned the king, we know whose going to win all the subsequent competitions unless he royally screws up or is injured. For example, I've known that Heath was going to win in all the past Olympia's I've watched, and I only watched to see who gets second and how the other placings change, which is kind of odd as 1st place winner is who you should care about. Now, we can make an argument about the past uncrowned Mr. Olympias like Levrone, Wheeler, Greene, Ray and how they had flaws in their physique which prevented them from winning. However, the same argument can be made for every Olympia winner. Every bodybuilder has glaring weaknesses, none of them are perfect. (See Ronnie's gut, Dorian's a

Making Money

My buddy won second place in his first NPC Men's Physique competition ever, without a tan. He has extremely good genetics (he was the most shredded guy my age I've ever met at all times since middle school). How can he make money doing this? Taking it a little further, how can he make a career out of bodybuilding/fitness? Does he simply need to keep winning these shows until a company approaches him, or...? If you're serious about helping, please PM me. My buddy won second place in his first NPC Men's Physique competition ever, without a tan. Is it possible to train both legs and everything else at the same time properly?

Last year I spent some time training my chest, back, arms etc. by lifting, various exercises, boxing, using different 'machines' (my sister has a personal gym) and so on. I had to stop because of school and this summer vacation I want to start training again. It might be worth noting that I'm 17 years old, male and thin/underweight. I already have quite some leg muscle as I'm a cyclist but I'd like to get some running going on as I would like to improve my running condition and speed. Now I'm wondering though, is it possible to train both my running and my other muscles at the same time? So say I go training 3 times a week, each session 1-2 hours, I'd spend half an hour running and the rest of the time would be spent lifting and boxing and such. If I eat enough, would my body be able to properly build up both my condition/'running muscles' and other muscles at the same time if I don't overdo it? Or will both grow just grow very slowly? Sor

My [F18] brother [going 14] was diagnosed with scoliosis about 4 years ago, but he never complains about it. We will be taking him to see a doctor soon though. I gave him a Shaun T workout (t25) about a year ago and he’s done the full 70 day program multiple times but does take a month off or two at a time. I understand though, since he is young and has trouble getting a private place to do it. Anyways, I gym for 2 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, and lift pretty heavy so I’d like to start bringing him with me to the gym so he can start training. I’ve talked to him and he is excited to join me as well but I don’t know what restrictions With lifting we have with his condition. Why were old-school bodybuilders less vascular than the current generation one ?

I was looking at photos of Arnold, Frank Zane etc in their prime. Noticed that they were a lot less vascular, less veins popping out than the current ones. I can see that bodybuilders of the previous era had decent size, compared to mass monsters of today. Had greek god aesthetics but they didn't have the vein popping look to them when compared to current bb'ers like Big Ramy, Kai Greene, Ronnie etc. 1. What was the difference between their "stack" or "gear" ? 2. I presume some drug causes extreme dehydration to give you that look. Which is it ? 3. Any ideas when this trend started ? Thanks. The Core Workout for Maximum Results in Minimum Time

Paper Boat Creative / Getty Having a six pack is the fitness equivalent of “making it.” Muscular powerful and racehorse endurance are great, but no physique-focused lifter is completely satisfied with their body composition unless they have chiseled abs. There’s a problem with that approach, though—and it has everything to do with why we don’t see many people with visible, three-dimensional cores. Millions of people are willing to stay up all night Googling quick fixes for six-pack abs, but few are willing to put in the work. This has brought savvy hucksters out of the woodwork, schilling all kinds of awful, misleading, and downright detrimental information. Some say you need to do certain exercises to get that dream body. Some say it’s all about eating certain foods. Some advise you to take magic pills that will get you those “washboard abs in no time.” In fact, developing six-pack abs comes down to two key things: Developing your core muscles Shedding the fat h

The Lower-Body Workout for Maximum Results in Minimum Time

Image
milan2099 / Getty I already like you. You know why? You’re not searching for a chest-only workout or looking for a quick fix to get huge arms or chiseled abs. You want to do what most people aren’t willing to—you want a functional workout to build a powerful lower body. I’ll warn you: That means a lot of hard work . But if you understand the value of leg workouts , you also probably know the payoff is huge for every aspect of your strength and overall fitness. A strong lower half can help you maintain your motor functions and age better, excel in more sports, and benefit even day-to-day tasks like yardwork, bending over to pick up your child, and getting out of bed in the morning. Here’s the good news: You don’t need to make the gym your second home and suffer through hours and hours of grueling workouts every week to get the body you really want. You’ll have to work hard, but it doesn’t have to take forever and you can even enjoy the process along the way. I’m go

The Total-Body Sledgehammer and Tire HIIT Workout

That’s because whaling on and flipping a tire recruits all your upper-body and core muscles and builds lower-body power, while also jacking up your heart rate. The best part: Letting the hammer rip (albeit, safely) is a great way to relieve stress. (It’s a hell of a lot more fun than jogging on a treadmill, too.) Even if you choose to perform just one of the exercises from the following circuit—created by C.J. “Murph” Murphy, owner of Total Performance Sports ( totalperformancesports.com ) in Malden, MA—you’ll still break a sweat. But give the entire workout a try. We promise it’ll work. We don’t promise, however, that it’ll be easy. An English Pharmacist Had Been Stealing Anabolic Steroids To Become A Professional Bodybuilder

A pharmacist in northeast England, working for Boots Pharmacy, admitted in April 2018 to stealing prescription anabolic steroids from a number of different pharmacy locations throughout the region that he had been employed at. Just 34 years old, Andrew Brown testified against himself in the Magistrates Court on April 16 of 2018 and admitted to stealing prescription grade anabolic steroids directly from a number of the Boots Pharmacy locations that he had been employed at. According to his own testimony (as well as CCTV footage that recorded each individual theft), the pharmacist had stolen just over $8800 worth of numerous types of anabolic steroids over a 10 month block of time – overlapping 2017 and 2018 – all in an effort to use those anabolic steroids himself on a quest to become a professional bodybuilder. Bigger, Better, Wider Shoulders

https://ift.tt/2LtRUwG jeremy1.jpg Per Bernal Jeremy Buendia’s physique is the standard-bearer in the IFBB Pro League men’s physique division. The California native has earned the nascent sport’s top prize—the Men’s Physique Olympia crown—four years running. Even more surprising is what he admits about his first three titles. “For a long time, I was training my shoulders all wrong,” Buendia confesses. “My technique was awful on a lot of my delt exercises.” Consider it a matter of degrees, but his delts, while certainly not a detriment to his overall physique, weren’t all they could be. “That was a lagging body part for the first few years I did the Olympia—especially the middle delts,” he explains. “And it’s just so important for the taper in men’s physique, that wide-shoulder-to-small-waist ratio.” jeremy9.jpg Per Bernal His solution? He went to work with his long-time trainer, Hany Rambod, tweaking Rambod’s FST-7 training protocol to blow up his shoulders.
