Why do we have Mr. Olympia dynasties? Why don't more people win the Mr. Olympia?

This is something that always confused me.

Why is it that once you win Mr. Olympia, you are guaranteed to win it for at least 4 years (bar the few exceptions exist like Dexter)?

To me, this drastically reduces the excitement in the Mr Olympia competition, because once one is crowned the king, we know whose going to win all the subsequent competitions unless he royally screws up or is injured. For example, I've known that Heath was going to win in all the past Olympia's I've watched, and I only watched to see who gets second and how the other placings change, which is kind of odd as 1st place winner is who you should care about.

Now, we can make an argument about the past uncrowned Mr. Olympias like Levrone, Wheeler, Greene, Ray and how they had flaws in their physique which prevented them from winning. However, the same argument can be made for every Olympia winner. Every bodybuilder has glaring weaknesses, none of them are perfect. (See Ronnie's gut, Dorian's arms and flat chest, Jay's wide waist and chad haircut)

Thus, it seems that sometimes one bodybuilder is arbitrarily chosen, regardless of having the same number of flaws as his close competitors and is repeatedly crowned winner again and again.

Wouldn't it be much more exciting if we had a cut throat competition each and every year where everything was up in the air? You know, like a fair competition?

What is the IFBB's strategy with creating dynasties?
