Sodium Manipulation in order to make weight. Detailed description of process for NPC USA’s 2018
What’s up r/bb? Pretty long time contributor here. For those that don’t know me, I’m an NPC classic physique competitor. Since I make a pretty large cut, people always ask me if I’m going to make weight or not. There are some tricks to weight cuts, and we pulled one for this show that I thought I would share with y’all. I hope y’all find it informative, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
DISCLAIMER: I’m just going to copy and paste my coach’s post he made. I am not talking about myself in the third person
VERY IMPORTANT 1) Don’t try this. I've worked with Brock extensively, and we know his body well.
2) Notice the size and difference in grainy-ness. Water plays a big role in muscle size- remember that next time you stop drinking fluids a few days out. ( don’t do it) ;)
3) This is NOT his stage look – we had all night and the next day to fill up and get sodium and fluid back in system. And he was actually a bit flatter- but the second pics is after weight was made and some fluids were entered)
4) This is just a post to let you into my clients preps and show what goes into competing and some of the fun ways we manipulate the body.
Brock is very lean, Brock has a lot of muscle. His weight cut off for his class is 205. If Brock wants to compete in said class, the gravitational pull on his mass needs to be less. sooooo.....
NOTE: This strictly about making weight to compete in a national show. The fat has been lost- no point in doing weight cut if you are not in shape. GET LEAN FIRST - weight cut if you must - but its always best to NOT have to do this.
Brock’s Plan
Edit: No diuretics used to make weight this year**
MONDAY - Normal Diet- Increased Sodium ( Over Salted ALL Meals)
2.5-3 gallons of Tap or Spring Water
Modifications - Added 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil or Macadamia nut oil to last meal of the day
TUESDAY - No Cardio - LIGHT Training in Afternoon ( high rep) - but nothing taxing at all
Normal Diet - Salt all meals before training - NO salt on meals AFTER training
2.5 gallons Tap or Spring Water ———— WEDNESDAY - Alter Meals to 7 meals of alternating 7oz Cod and 7oz boiled chicken ( no veggies/ no fats) –
NO Salt added WED and do 3 gallons of DISTILLED WATER I normally only use tap or spring water all week as you know - I only use distilled for weight cuts as it pulls minerals with it - but since we have a while extra day to recover – it’s ok and we want it to pull sodium that we normally would not want pulled.
PRE BED - 1000mg Dandelion Root - 100mg Potassium ——— THURSDAY - Weigh -In Day ( Bring Sweat Suit and Warm Beanie)
Sleep in as long as possible - Wake up pee - and head back to bed. After your second or third wake up when you positively can’t sleep anymore and have peed a few extra times - Check weight - Text me and start this.
1000mg Dandelion Root - 100mg Potassium - 16oz Black Coffee - 20 oz Distilled Water again
Meal 1 - 10 oz Fresh Salmon - cooked on 14g Coconut oil
Rest with legs up - We will start sweating - around Noon or 1 to ensure we have plenty of time -
