Bulking confusion

So I've been trying to bulk without getting too fat. However I'm a wee bit confused. Essentially when filling out the info for the calculator I say that my day job is sedentary but my exercise is extremely intense; it then gives me my maintenance, my surplus etc. However my surplus seems way too low.
Where if I were to follow it with my exercise routine, my daily calorie intake would be lower than my maintenance.
So I just wanted to ask do I just check the most active options for everything or is it normal to end up with a calorie intake below the maintenance after exercising?
