Husband placed 3rd at the Emerald Cup last night! Classic Physique Class A, 1st competition ever.

I can't contain my excitement! I've been lurking here for years(husband isn't a reddit user) to learn more about bodybuilding so I can support him more. Yesterday he competed in the Emerald Cup, Classic Physique Class A.

It was our first competition ever and we learned so much, no posing coach or trainer. Jay Cutler gave him an online 16-week contest prep, just meals mainly. He spilled over on the carb loading a little bit the night before, that was the only big mistake. I tanned him myself in the hotel with ProTan, I've never tanned before. We were so nervous about it not being dark/even/shiny enough since most of the other competitors paid for professional tanning at the venue. It turned out perfect and it didn't run off at all, a lot of other competitors' tan starting running off reeeaally badly. When they went on stage, they did the two lines of 6 competitors at a time(12 total), and then did the first call of 6, my husband was not in that group. After the first pose for that group, the judges called my husband in to stand at the end, then moved him over person by person until he was in the center within like 15 seconds. We were so shocked! He went from being on the sideline, thinking "that's it, didn't get first-called" and then they put him right in the center.

Months of planning our whole day around gym time (in the military and having kids makes it difficult), all the difficulties of meal prepping, all paid off. We're so happy he placed 3rd for his first try ever.
